Accessibility & Sustainability
Accessibility
At Distillery Road Market, accessibility and inclusion are a priority. We provide step-free access, accessible parking, inclusive restrooms, and warmly welcome guide dogs and assistance animals. Whether dining, touring, or attending an event, our team is here to ensure you feel comfortable and supported.
Sustainability & Positive Impact
At Distillery Road Market, we believe great experiences go hand in hand with caring for our environment and community.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do — from supporting local producers and reducing waste to creating spaces where people and nature thrive together. Whether you’re browsing the market stalls, enjoying a meal, or attending one of our events, you’re part of a bigger mission to protect our planet and uplift our community.
Environmental Sustainability
At Distillery Road Market, environmental sustainability guides everything we do. We’ve updated much of our packaging to align with national Sustainable Packaging Guidelines, prioritising recycled materials and enhancing recyclability as part of our ongoing commitment to reduce waste.
On-site, we’ve introduced dedicated recycling stations for glass, cardboard, PET, and other materials, supporting our goal to minimise landfill impact and embed circular economy principles into daily operations.
Our approach is part of a broader Environmental Management Policy, overseen by Tonken Property Group and DRM management teams. This policy is grounded in continuous improvement and compliance with environmental legislation, focusing on waste reduction, energy and water conservation, and responsible procurement.
By embracing the principles of “use, rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, re-educate, and recycle,” we actively work to lessen our environmental footprint while fostering awareness and responsibility across our community, staff, and tenants.
Together, these initiatives ensure that Distillery Road Market operates sustainably, balancing environmental care with delivering an authentic and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
People & Community
Nestled in the heart of Eagleby, Distillery Road Market is proud to champion our local community. We prioritise sourcing from Queensland growers, artisans, and service providers, ensuring our market supports the people behind the products. Beyond trading, we actively engage with local events, initiatives, and sporting clubs — because for us, sustainability is about nurturing relationships, celebrating diversity, and building a stronger community we’re proud to call home.
Ethical Purchasing
At Distillery Road Market, we’re thoughtful about everything we offer — from retail products and packaging to merchandise — ensuring it reflects our strong commitment to ethical and environmental values. We proudly partner with Australian-owned and ethically certified suppliers, with many of our market stalls featuring handmade goods crafted by local artisans.
We continuously review our range to make sure every item aligns with our promise of responsible purchasing, supporting both the planet and the talented people behind the products.
Future Focused
Sustainability is central to Distillery Road Market’s vision for the future. Guided by our dedicated Sustainability Committee, we actively measure and manage our environmental impact—tracking waste streams like food, packaging, and repurposed grains; monitoring energy use from solar power, thermal systems, and lighting; and overseeing water usage from tanks and supply sources.
We’re proud to repurpose materials wherever possible, including shipping containers and steel, and carefully select packaging materials to minimise waste. Our partnership with Veolia supports efficient waste management and recycling initiatives.
Beyond environmental efforts, we’re committed to community engagement—running outreach programs such as employing local youth from nearby high schools to help build skills and opportunities. As we grow, we’re working to formalise our policies and communication strategies to ensure ongoing transparency and accountability.
At Distillery Road Market, our goal is to lead with integrity and care, creating an authentic, memorable market experience that nurtures both people and planet for years to come.
